Geography & Weather

Ranthambore is situated in the southeastern region of Rajasthan where the terrain transitions from the arid Thar Desert to dense forests. The park sits in the heart of the Aravali and Vindhya mountain ranges, giving it a unique ecology.

Summers are scorching while winters are relatively cold. During monsoon (July–September), Zones 1–5 close for tiger safari while Zones 6–10 remain open. Many water bodies are located throughout the park, offering a cool climate even in hot months.

The massive Ranthambore Fort, atop a hillock in the park, along with ruins and excavations of former eras, creates a breathtaking mix of environment, history, and natural world.
